Wild Encounters

The Stories Behind The Moments

Some wild moments are seen. Some are witnessed.
Very few are understood

Have a wild encounter with a story behind it?

We love to feature guest photographers, expedition participants, field professionals, and explorers whose images and experiences help tell the bigger story of the untamed world.

If you’ve experienced a real wild moment — with wildlife, landscape, weather, or place — and have a meaningful story behind it, we want to hear from you.

Wild Encounters — The Stories Behind The Moments

Encounters are not defined by subject — but by the experience itself.

They are the seconds when the wild world reveals something real, unpredictable, and unrepeatable. Sometimes that encounter is with wildlife. Sometimes it is with landscape, weather, light, or the raw presence of a place that changes how you see the world.

Wild Encounters — The Stories Behind The Moments is an evolving field journal of real experiences in wild places — shared not only by Wake Up To Adventure, but by the photographers, naturalists, guides, expedition partners, and field professionals who live and work in the untamed world every day.

Each edition goes beyond the photograph and into the field:

  • The conditions

  • The behavior — of wildlife, weather, or environment

  • The decisions made in real time

  • The near misses

  • The unpredictable chain of events that turned possibility into something real

These are not staged.
They cannot be replicated.
They are experiences that existed once — and were witnessed, respected, and captured.

Some stories come from Wake Up To Adventure expeditions.
Some come from guest photographers who have stood in the field with us.
Some come from the naturalists, captains, guides, and field experts who help make these encounters possible.

And sometimes, they come from extraordinary photographers whose work and experience deserve to be shared.

If you care about wildlife, wild places, field craft, photography, or understanding how rare events in nature actually happen — this series was built for you.

New encounters are shared when the wild gives us something worth telling.

Come back often.
The next story is already unfolding somewhere.
