Where Wild Places and Purpose Meet

Wake Up To Adventure exists for one reason — to reconnect people with the wild.

Through immersive wildlife and landscape photography experiences, Lee Andelson guides guests beyond simply taking beautiful pictures. These journeys are about slowing down, paying attention, and rediscovering what it means to truly see. To read the light. To embrace the stillness between frames. To wait — sometimes for hours — for a moment where patience, intuition, and presence come together.

Each experience is rooted in Lee’s belief that wilderness still has the power to inspire, teach, and heal — if we’re willing to be present. In a world driven by speed and distraction, he invites his guests to pause and experience what it feels like to move at the rhythm of nature.

These adventures are not reserved for seasoned photographers. Wake Up To Adventure is built on a commitment to making nature and photography accessible to younger generations — ensuring that wild places and creative storytelling remain within reach. Through outreach and charitable efforts, the mission extends beyond the camera, encouraging curiosity, stewardship, and a lifelong connection to the natural world.

For Lee, Wake Up To Adventure is more than a company. It is a movement — one that empowers people to reconnect with nature, sharpen their artistic vision, and carry that sense of presence back into their everyday lives.

Because in a rapidly changing world, learning to slow down and truly see has never mattered more.

About Lee Andelson

Wildlife Photographer. Fine Art Artist. Photography Guide.

Lee Andelson is a Pacific Northwest wildlife photographer and fine art artist based between Bend, Oregon and the San Juan Islands of Washington. Specializing in marine life, iconic land species, and immersive wildlife experiences, his work captures powerful encounters with orcas, humpback whales, foxes, bears, wolves, and the untamed landscapes they inhabit.

His fine art wildlife photography is displayed throughout the Pacific Northwest in boutique hotels, restaurants, storefronts, and private collections. Each image reflects a lifelong dedication to documenting wild places with patience, intention, and respect.

With over a decade behind the lens, Lee began his career in Southern California as a wedding and portrait photographer, founding Your Moment In Lights. But it was during extended solo journeys into remote wilderness — hiking for days, camping off-grid, and photographing places few people ever reach — that his vision as a wildlife fine art photographer was fully forged.

Today, Lee leads small-group wildlife photography tours and workshops throughout the San Juan Islands, the Pacific Northwest, and beyond. These immersive experiences are designed not simply to get you close to wildlife, but to teach you how to see differently — to anticipate behavior, read light, and capture moments with skill and story. From photographing killer whales in the Salish Sea to documenting foxes in alpine meadows, his tours focus on presence as much as technique.

As a photography educator and guide, Lee is known for his thoughtful, hands-on approach. Whether working with beginners or experienced photographers, he meets people where they are — helping them refine their craft while deepening their connection to the natural world. His mission is not just to create powerful images, but to cultivate a lasting relationship between people and wild places.

While his photography has taken him to rugged coastlines, remote islands, and high mountain terrain, Lee’s most important adventure is raising his family. He and his wife Jamie are raising their two sons with a deep reverence for nature, believing that time outdoors is essential to both creativity and character. From snowshoeing through Oregon forests to watching whales surface in the San Juan Islands, wild spaces remain at the center of their lives.

Back home in Bend, Oregon, Lee leads immersive landscape photography tours throughout Central Oregon’s high desert. From the waterfalls of the Cascade Range to volcanic ridgelines, alpine lakes, and dramatic desert horizons, these guided experiences are designed to help photographers capture the region’s most iconic scenery with skill, timing, and creative intention.

When he’s not behind the camera, you’ll find Lee camping, snowboarding, exploring the wilderness, or adventuring with his wife Jamie, their sons, and their two Shiba Inu dogs — always searching for new light, fresh terrain, and the next defining encounter with the wild.
